So Many Projects

I love productive days and today was very productive.  Jonathan and I got a lot of projects completed.

First we mod-podged a map to some wooden letters to hang over our maps in the hallway.
Then Jonathan fixed our long-torn-screen as a birthday present for me.  While he was working on that I ground some barley and steel-cut oats and made a pancake mix.  Using different grains is new to me, but I'm excited to try it.
Earlier this week my mom took me birthday shopping for some jewelry and I needed a place to store it.  I found a great tutorial and made a jewelry rack for my bathroom.
Last summer I bought a pop-up pool and the kids have been WAITING for us to set it up.  It finally happened today.  Too bad they couldn't go swimming in it. They'll have to wait until Monday.
Jonathan posted a couple of blogs and finished hanging up the frames for the posters in the boys room.  We also purchased a security door for the front and will hopefully get it installed next week.
YIPPEE for a productive day!

Flowers--Failed Project

Remember back to when I bought the girls new bedspreads and I had some help with pictures and curtains?  Well I decided that I wanted to do something more.  The plan was to make "homemade" vinyl stickers for the walls--trace the flowers on one of the bedspreads, find matching paper and cut out flowers and dots in those colors then modge-podge the flowers to contact paper and stick the flowers to the wall.  First I had to find the right colors.  Courtney pointed me in the right direction and I found a pack with almost all the colors.  Then we cut them out and I modge-podged the flowers to the contact paper.  This was tricky--the flowers were big and thick and they didn't lay down as easily as some of the other papers that I've used.  After cutting the flowers out again, Courtney helped me decide where to put the flowers, BUT the flowers wouldn't stick!  UGH!  All that work and they wouldn't stay on the wall.  I debated other options--wallpaper paste, re-cutting the flowers, spray adhesive, tape--and decided to put a little bit of masking tape on each  petal.  TA-DA!  Not the neatest way to get them up, but it worked and they look real-ish.  Failed projects like these make me scared to do other do-it-yourself projects, but I'm glad that I have friends around who will help me.
I wanted just flowers, but Braedi wanted dots, so I did both.
