Today we practiced writing
calligraphy--the way the people of ancient China wrote. It was hard! No wonder they had the learn and practice for several years. These lines are called the Seven Mysteries and they are the basic lines that make up the characters.

Dyllan gave up and joined
Ephram and Faythe in "just" painting.

I even tried.

We also tried to recreate the Great Wall of China. The
emperor,
Shi Huangdi, wanted a wall built to keep out the Mongols. He found architects and builders, but they said there wasn't enough stone to build a wall. They had to come up with a solution: they built a wooden frame that was waist high and the width of a wall,

filled it with loose dirt and packed it down to about 4 inches. The dirt was as hard as concrete after the packing.

Then they took off the frame and put it on top of the hardened mound and repeated the process over and over and over and over. We just filled our frame then built two more sections next to the first one. We only did 3 and it took us awhile. I can only imagine what the process must have been like for the people who were forced to work on it back then.
