Making Volcanoes

We had some fun times making volcanoes. The first volcano Jonathan made with the kids while I went to the doctor. He took a pile of flour, shaped it like a volcano and the kids blew into it with a straw. It showed the ash cloud a volcano can make.

They also tried to make a volcano with diet Coke and mentos. It didn't work, but they watched a cool youtube video about it.

Today we made a chemical volcano. The kids put an empty water bottle in a mound of dirt then added a little dish soap and food coloring to the bottle.

Next came a cup of vinegar.
Then they filled the bottle with warm water. Last they quickly added 2 Tbl. baking soda mixed with a little water (to help it pour in quick). Then they jumped back as it exploded.

They loved it.
